MEETING WITH

Claire Prost

Your passion in life?

“I love getting some fresh air and going on adventures. My bike? My best friend! I ride during the week, on weekends, and even during my vacations…

Your favorite in the south of France?

“The Alpilles on gravel: pure nature at its best! Ridges, scrubland, olive groves… I come from the mountains, and this bumpy ride with the scent of the South is a real favorite, especially in autumn.

3 tourist experiences in the region that you particularly like?

  • Spending a day in Arles is always a pleasure. I recommend visiting the unmissable Muséon Arlaten, a true tribute to the history of Provence. Then take a stroll through the historic streets lined with pretty shops. And the best part? I take the train from Avignon Central Station: Arles is only 20 minutes away!
  • Summer evening in Velleron : stroll through the farmers’ market and enjoy a drink at the local bar.
  • Saturday morning in Villeneuve : head to the flea market by bike and finish with lunch on a terrace.

Your advice for our guests?

“I love this quote: “When traveling, it’s not the destination that matters, but the journey… and especially the detours.” I firmly believe that vacations are the perfect opportunity to open yourself up to the unexpected and to new encounters. Daring to travel without a car gives you that opportunity. By train, bus, bike, on foot… Each mode of transportation reveals a new perspective, a gentler way to explore, an opportunity to meet people. And frankly, it gives your vacation a whole new flavor.

Music found in your travel playlist?

““Popular” by Nada Surf, an iconic alternative hit from the 90s that marked my teenage years. The band may have aged, but they continue to rock the stage (including those in the South of France): simply legendary! Fun fact: the bassist is French and the singer has been spending his vacations in the Vaucluse since childhood.

Your little grain of madness?

“Rock concerts in iconic venues, such as the ancient theater in Arles or the amphitheater in Nîmes.

Your favorite local dish?

« An anchoïade with crunchy vegetables. »

If you were a tourist attraction in the region...

The Pont du Gard because it has stood the test of time without losing any of its beauty!”
